Food Journal part 2

I wanted to elaborate a little further on the food journal I wrote about yesterday.

  • I don't ALWAYS keep track of calories. I TRY to most of the time, but sometimes life gets busy, or i'm just sorta unsure about the ingredients or whatever. But I do always right down what I ate. This helps me get a visual of how I did overall for the day.  Also, I tell myself its ok if I don't keep a perfect food journal, of I miss the calories of a meal. The point with the food journal is to learn about what my eating habits are and to hold myself accountable.
  • I find this method of writing things down easier, because I don't have to look up every. single. ingredient.  Some I can read off the package and just write it down.  Some I eat regularly, and already know it, again, I can just write it down.  For me, it's just easier.
  • Quantity is important.  Don't lie to yourself.  I love this quote (so I'll post it again!)

So don't lie to yourself, be honest with what and how much you had.  The only way to really reach your goals is to at the very least, be honest with yourself about what you had.  To help with this, I keep a food scale on my counter and measuring spoons and cups VERY handy.  Today I made a sandwich with some left over Easter ham.  Probably like 100 million other people in the country!  Anyways, I pulled out some ham, dropped it on the food scale and wrote down 2 oz.  Easy enough!
I hope these last little bits of info help!  If I missed something, let me hear it!
