Chocolate-y Protein Breakfast Smoothie

I have never been that big of a smoothie fan.  Well unless you add tequila and call it a Margarita.  But I guess that doesn't really count.  Right?  Can you have Margaritas for breakfast?  I think that's only on vacation.  Or Saturdays.

Strawberry Surf RiderI have nothing against smoothies per se, just every time I've had them, they never really filled me up.  You know like a meal does.  Maybe I'm too hungry, I don't know!  But then you look at the calorie stats, and they fill you up real good calorie wise, sometimes waaaayyy more than a meal should!  So I didn't get it.  Not very full, hungry in two hours, chubby the next day.  Not my thing!  I mean they're delicious, sure.  But they just didn't seem like something I needed to add to my already calorie packed day.  Also they're not very cheap.  I mean it takes a LOT of blended fruit to add up to anything substantial.  So at home, you're buying a lot of fruit.  And if you go out and by them, you're spending $3-5 each!  Yikes!  This gorgeous looking smoothie on the right, sets you back 460 Calories. WOAH!

But.  Then.  I discovered this smoothie.  It's quick.  It's easy.  It's delicious.  All things you ask for in a smoothie.  Plus, It has chocolate. For Breakfast.  You can't go wrong!  And even more exciting, it's only 170 calories per serving.  Say what?!

So you should do what I did this morning, whirl it up in your blender, throw it in a mason jar (that's what I had handy, because I own 4,657 of them) sip it on your way to work, and have yourself a nice time!  If you're really really smart, you can do what I did last night, combine the ingredients for 4 smoothies in individual ziplock bags, then when I woke up this morning, all I had to do was dump the contents of the bag along with a handful of ice in my blender and I was on my way!  Yuu-uum!
